Junior PHP Developer

£20,000 to £28,000 depending on experience.
Closing date: Sunday 9th May 2021.

We are looking for a motivated Junior PHP Developer to join our fast-growing small business in Barnsley. You will be working on existing projects, as well as building new projects from start to finish. You will be expected to be responsible and proactive when it comes to best practices.

Your role will involve working on front and back-end aspects of projects, using a variety of technologies to deliver effective and efficient solutions.

It is important that you have a good/fluent understanding of the following subjects:

  • PHP & the Laravel PHP framework
  • MySQL, Eloquent Models, Relations, Indexing and optimisation
  • Key design patterns, especially MVC
  • HTML5, CSS and Bootstrap 4 or 5
  • Cross-browser and device compatibility
  • JavaScript, jQuery & interaction with the HTML DOM
  • Linux command line interface, common tools & Composer

Experience with any of the following would be of interest:

  • OctoberCMS, including custom plugins, migrations, components, and October’s AJAX.
  • WordPress, including building plugins and themes from scratch.
  • WooCommerce extension and customisation experience.
  • RESTful style API’s from both Server and Client perspective.
  • AWS API’s
  • Linux operating system deployment & maintenance (Especially Ubuntu)
  • Nginx
  • Kamailio, FreeSwitch, HAProxy & SIP.

We are also looking for someone with the following personal qualities:

  • The desire to grow within the company.
  • Confidence to contribute ideas, as well as provide (and accept) constructive criticism.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients.
  • Consistent ability to follow procedures and maintain a schedule.
  • Can work effectively both on your own, or as part of a team.
  • Will keep up to date with the latest and ever-changing relevant technologies.
